Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitarist and musician. She was the first and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she's received 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live in concert and serve as a presenter at the ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, an Indian young sitar singer. She is Ravi Shankar's pupil and is also his daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. During the first few years of her life she was split in London New Delhi. When she was 13, she gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. In 1999, she completed her high schooling within Encinitas CA. Her career as a performer and recorder is remarkable, even at her young age. Her father has accompanied her on numerous occasions for several years. The singer has released Anourag her first solo album in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Her stage career is very broad as she's performed in most of the world's major venues. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute Ravi Shankar. She also acted on film in 2003. The role she played was that of an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and will surely be more things to come from this talented woman. Anoushka was raised in England, but spent most of her childhood between London and Delhi. She then moved to California and enrolled in high school there. When she was 9 She began studying the piano with her father. Her debut performance on the Sitar was in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Her father traveled around the globe with her, and she also gained a variety of opportunities. While still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and artistry within performing in the Asian Arts.
